An autobiographical journey through modern American culture
It's not the Beatles who should have been following the lead of the Stones, it's the Stones who ought to have followed the lead of the Beatles. The Stones' first album after "Revolver" should have been "Rotator" (or "Shotgun").
The Stones tried that, ripping off Sgt. Pepper's Lonely with Their Satanic Majesties Request, and that didn't work out so well. And the Knack tried to emulate Revolver with Round Trip, and that was even worse. The Replacements' Let It Be is awfully good, though.
