Eddy Arnold Dies; Was Not in 'Green Acres'

Country singer Eddy Arnold, dead at the age of 89. Best known as the singer of "Make the World Go Away," which went to Number One on the country charts and Number Six on the pop charts back in 1965, Arnold was also noted for being a completely different person from Eddie Albert (above), who played Oliver Wendell Douglas on Green Acres. Albert was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in Roman Holiday (1953) and The Heartbreak Kid (1972), and helped to found Earth Day, which is celebrated on his birthday, April 22nd.

Eddie Albert died in 2005 at the age of 99. "I always thought I was a singer," he once said, "but I really am not." Lots of people made that mistake.

By my lights, you sing "Make the World Go Away" and you take the consequences.

Given that he sang that song forty-three years ago, I guess the wheels of karma grind exceedingly slow.

When you're a famous singer, fate is a slow-turning ship.

(Wait. Karma has wheels? Fate's a ship? What is going on here?)

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the picture on this page of Eddy Arnold is really a picture of Eddie Albert who starred in the TV series "Green Acres". :-)

Well, duh! I know Eddy Arnold wasn't in "Green Acres". Eddie Albert was in "Green Acres". I'm merely trying to tell you that the picture you've posted as Eddy Arnold is not Eddy Arnold. It's a picture of Eddie Albert. ... Do a search in Goggle Images for pictures of Eddy Arnold and Eddie Albert and you'll see what I mean. :-)

In re-reading the paragraph at the top, I see the mistake was mine. You weren't meaning to post a picture of Eddy Arnold, but a picture of Eddie Albert. It was my mistake and I apologize for it. :-)

Well, yeah, it was kind of a joke.

Thanks for reading.
