Phrases That Leonard Cohen Got to Rhyme With "Hallelujah" in the Song of the Same Name

Do ya?

The moonlight overthrew ya

How to shoot at someone who outdrew ya

I used to live alone before I knew ya

Do ya? (again!)

What's it to ya?

I didn't come to fool ya

I usually like and often love Leonard Cohen's songs and albums, but I have always thought that song is an overrated piece of crap. (Not because of those rhymes; I often get a kick out of goofy forced rhymes [see "Angelina" by Bob Dylan, which is swell]).

"Brylcream . . . a little dab'll do ya."

"Take my advice, I'm only tryin' to school ya."

OK, that's enough for 7AM.

Great, great song. Especially the Jeff Buckley version.

At least he left out "boo-yah!" and "cool, ja?" and "Grand Poobah."

If Lenny was here, I'm sure he'd just say "screw ya."
